Europress Balex Waste Balers

With forty years’ experience in manufacturing waste handling equipment, Europress has designed and built a superior range of vertical waste balers, with a machine in the Balex baler range to meet almost any demand for waste handling. Europress has invested heavily in automation, enabling the production of high quality products.

Steel is cut using lasers which gives a high degree of precision and the balers are welded using robots, ensuring consistency.  Machines are built using a Jig are to maintain a high degree of accuracy. To stop corrosion, the finished baler is shot blasted before being painted.

Safety standard EN16500

In designing their range of balers, the primary objective has been to develop a good quality product in which current and future EU safety directives are considered and met.

The mechanical structure of the Balex range fulfills the criteria set by the FEMI strength calculation analysis, in which every single detail has been designed to serve a durable and working entirety.

Their durable, strong build quality meets the EN16500 Safety Standards.

This is a 2015 European standard that prescribes high levels of safety for all new vertical balers including the design, manufacture and information for the safe usage of the machinery.

Two Year Warranty

All machines in the Balex range come with a two year warranty.  These balers are heavy duty machines, equipped with cross cylinders for very stable compression and a compact, low overall height, making them easy to locate in most environments and an excellent choice for a wide range of uses.

They have large feed openings and produce very dense bales.

Compact Footprint with Low overall Height

Operating at a really low noise level of just 59dBa, they are also easy to locate in busy working areas.

Balex balers are suitable for a wide range of materials including cardboard and plastics, including shrink wrap, plastic bags, bottles, big bags such as the type used for gravel and sand, plastic drums, jugs, computer cases, eps and foam.

They can also bale metals, including aluminium and food cans, as well as textiles, clothing and carpet offcuts.

Turnbuckle threaded spindles ensure a safe and steady opening of the main door.

Intelligent SMART Technology

Balex utilizes a smart-central which has been tested in Europress’s range of compactors for several years, with a second generation version now in use.

All the best functionality of the SMART system has been improved, with even more new functions designed primarily for balers. These improve durability, safety and the ease of use of the machine.

The baler communicates and guides its user during use and gives an indication of its different states.  It optimises the strokes and pressure, recognises safety risks and guides the user to remove them.

SMART- technology in Balex balers means time savings in working hours and service costs for the user.

Optional Real Time Monitoring

The browser version of the SMART web portal allows you to view and manage your balers with a full range of analytics such as filling trends, fault history and emptying times.  You can also see how many bales are ready for collections, helping both you are your recycler plan transport more efficiently.

The SMART web portal also monitors:

  • Number of empyings and times
  • Efficiency including real time fill levels
  • Emergency stop button activations and times
  • Operating hours
  • Location of equipment viewable on a map with map co-ordinates
  • Bale counter
  • Status of the machine including when it was last emptied
  • Indicator of when the service is due
  • Full data analytics - downloadable as Excel spreadsheet

The SMARTWASTE app enables you to monitor your balers in real time from your mobile phone.

Easy to Use

Each machine has clear user pictogram instructions on the front panel for ease of use. The strap box is located at the front of the baler, making changing the strap quick and easy. A fast cycle time saves the operator time.  The bale full light switches on when the bale is ready.  Safe, two handed bale ejection is quick and easy.

The user can easily switch between two modes of operation on the control panel, with separate modes set up for example for cardboard and plastics to ensure optimal use of the baler.

Mode 1 is best suited to baling cardboard or material with similar characteristics. In this mode, the piston returns into the top position immediately after the operating movement, and the device is ready for feeding immediately after the movement has ended.

Mode 2 is suitable for baling plastic or material with similar characteristics. In this mode, the piston remains in the bottom position after the operating movement, which prevents the material from returning into the shape before baling.

Before feeding the baler again, the user simply presses the green start button once, which returns the piston to the top position and the baler is ready to be fed again.

Balex Baler Durability and Design

Cross Cylinder Design with Solid Construction

  • Cross cylinder design –  a long machine stroke ensures stable compression and superior press force to achieve a high bale weight
  • Solid construction – Balex is designed for long life; typically between 6 and 15 years depending on use and type of waste
  • Turnbuckle closures – strong threaded spindle ensures a safe and steady opening of the main door
  • Easy to use – machine is easy to use with a simple and safe operating panel, non language pictograms provide clear instructions for operators and the loading door is easy to open

Balex Baler Efficiency

Europress Balex control panel
  • Smart technology – enabling more efficient, ecological and safe waste handling
  • Large filling opening – labour costs are minimised due to faster loading of the machine and even fairly large boxes therefore won’t need to be broken down
  • Automatic ejection – highly compressed bale is automatically discharged onto a pallet ready for easy transportation, saving operator time
  • Space saving – where height is an issue, the double scissor cylinder design mean that the overall height of the machine is minimised giving more flexibility on where the machine can be located
  • Flexible bale weight – produces consistent bales to meet your recycling or transportation needs and comply with your health & safety requirements
  • Fast cycle time – the operator spends minimal time in loading the machine and producing a bale
  • Easy ‘tie off’ on finished bale – the press plate design saves the operator time when tying off a bale
  • Material retainer barbs – reduced spring back of compacted material allowing larger volumes of additional waste to be loaded more quickly
  • Maximise Bale weight – bale full light guarantees consistent bale size without relying on the operators judgement
  • Two modes of operation – separate modes for cardboard and plastics ensures optimal use of the baler
  • Pallet guide – ensures that the bale tips into the middle of a Euro pallet when it’s ejected

Balex Baler Safety

Meets EN16500 Safety Standards

  • Meets EN16500 Safety Standard – giving the customer confidence in the safety functions of the baler
  • Certified staff training included in installation charge – machine operators will receive the training they need to safely operate the machine
Heavy duty door closure with electronic sensors –
ensures safe operation for your staff when compacting material or removing bales
  • Key operated as standard – allowing control of who can operate the baler
  • Safe bale ejection – two handed bale ejection system requires the operator to stand clear of the machine reducing the risk of injury when the bale is ejected onto a pallet
  • Quiet operation – ensures a more comfortable environment for the operator and anyone working nearby
  • CE Marked – machines are designed to provide European compliance
